Beach Bonfire Benefit

The Annual Beach Bonfire Benefit in York, Maine is a heartwarming tradition that has been going strong since 2001. It was initiated by the Woods family of Graystone Builders of Maine after the tragic events of 9/11. Their goal was to raise funds for the New York City Fire Department. Over the years, this event has evolved into a beautiful community gathering that supports various local charities and organizations.

Here’s how it works: The Woods family and their friends stack firewood to create a massive bonfire on Long Sands Beach in York. The warmth of the flames not only brings people together but also benefits those in need. The proceeds from this event, which has raised over $100,000, now go to organizations like the York Community Service Association Food Pantry (YCSAFP). It’s heartwarming to see how a simple act of kindling a bonfire can make a significant impact on people’s lives.
