At York Parks and Recreation, strong community partnerships make all the difference. Few partners exemplify that spirit better than the Anchorage Inn. Their generosity and ongoing support help us deliver meaningful programs and special events that bring our community together year after year.

One of the most impactful ways the Anchorage Inn supports York families is by hosting our swim lessons. By opening their pool to us, they make it possible for more than 160 children in our community to learn essential water safety skills, build confidence, and simply have fun in the water. Providing access to quality swim instruction is something we deeply value, and we could not offer this opportunity at the same scale without their partnership.

The Anchorage Inn also supports our Center for Active Living members by offering swim passes during the colder months. From October through May, seniors can enjoy lap swim and free swim at their pool. This gives our group an affordable way to stay active in the water throughout the winter, which is a real benefit for many of our participants.

They also play a special role in one of York’s most cherished holiday traditions. Each December, they host Santa Claus at the Lighting of the Anchorage, creating a warm and welcoming space for the community to gather as the Nubble unveils its holiday lights. To top off the evening, they put on an amazing fireworks show that lights up the sky and adds to the festive spirit we all look forward to.

In addition to these contributions, the Anchorage Inn has been a repeated sponsor of the York Days 5K. Their support has helped us raise funds for youth programming right here in York, allowing more young people to participate in the recreational opportunities we offer throughout the year.
